Meow and Forever: Stand-Up Soirée

Kielbasa on the Veranda

Meow!

I know I'm letting out a huge secret in doing this, but...cats can write! My name is Kielbasa Starchibald Cheese Pasfield. I'm that fancy orange cat you see around The Pasfield House, and this is my writing journey about the fantastic events and weddings we have here!  If you're looking to have your own wedding or event at The Pasfield House,  please fill out our Event Request Form to get started!

Cats are usually only associated with comedy when we do crazy stuff for videos that end up on YouTube or TikTok. Sometimes it's catnip that makes that happen, or sometimes we're just straight up kooky.  What you may not realize is that we appreciate some good jokes. And that's what I got at the Stand-Up Soirée at The Pasfield House! Everyone started off the night having some drinks named after the three comedians at the show. There was a Cran-Larry Moscow Mule for the host, Larry Smith, a Trey-mendous Margarita for our opener, Trey Eilers, and a Shriner-berry Razzle Dazzle for Jamie Shriner. Chef Chris grilled up some sliders for everyone to enjoy and we got to know each other.

Trey Eilers in the Gilded Room
Larry Smith started us off laughing and then Trey Eilers hit the stage. Trey had a really dark, witty and clever approach to his comedy that stood on its own, but he's also a balloon artist!! Now, normally balloons freak me out. I might lick them, because I basically lick anything that's plastic or rubber, but balloons sound weird when you're blowing them up, then they're squeaky after you blow them up. If they get poked, they make a really loud noise and disappear, and that always makes me run for the hills.

Setting my balloon-phobia aside was tough, but once he started creating things, it was wild! I saw a unicorn, an alien in a spaceship, and after the show came the best surprise: a balloon version of ME!
After Trey had finished putting everyone into fits of giggles,  Jamie Shriner closed out the evening by putting everyone right back into stitches using her special style of humorous original songs to bring the house down. She has a hilarious way of talking about her hearing loss and mental illness, as well as her struggles with body image, womanhood, and being queer in Indiana, where she grew up.

In fact, everyone was laughing so hard that I had to run away. I thought it was really funny, I just can't help but run away when things get really loud. What can I say? I'm a cat.
